Program Manager

The 3RsC Program Manager will work closely with the 3RsC Executive Director and volunteers to facilitate an increase in the adoption of evidence-based 3Rs techniques. This includes actively managing and contributing to 3RsC active initiatives. The 3RsC Programs Manager must be passionate about the organization’s mission and be able to clearly articulate its importance and relevance to diverse audiences.

Salary Range

  • $40,000 to $60,000 USD yearly

Main Duties

Program Management

  • Support 3RsC initiatives by scheduling and leading meetings, facilitating discussions, taking meeting minutes, collating updates, and managing action items.
  • Craft meeting agendas, reports and papers, presentations, and support materials including peer-reviewed publications and conference presentations/posters.
  • Lead initiatives, when necessary, by encouraging development of workshops, symposia, media, publications, and communication materials as related to programs
  • Evaluate initiatives by collecting regular KPI data and presenting to the board of directors.
  • Correspond regularly with initiative members and external stakeholders.

Program Intern Supervision

  • As needed: recruit, hire, supervise, & mentor interns contributing to programs

Development

  • Participate in program funding efforts including soliciting initiative members & acknowledgment correspondence to donors
  • Update Finance Team and Board of Directors on projections for initiative membership

Outreach & Communication

  • Support interns & other staff to disseminate program activities by contributing to newsletters, the website, social media, reports, presentations, podcast, and other dissemination activities.
  • Supervise & write contributions to LAS Pro, Scientist.com, or similar dissemination venues
  • Meet with leaders of related organizations or initiatives to ensure coordination of efforts and seek out potential areas of collaboration and synergy
  • Up to 10% travel to scientific and professional conferences

Minimum Requirements

Education & Experience

  • BS with 3+ years in administrative support/project management

Setting/Equipment

  • Access to a reliably quiet home office, internet connection, and computer.
  • Must be able to attend regular weekly and monthly meetings between 10am-5pm EST, Monday through Friday

Preferred Requirements

  • MS degree or higher
  • Experience working in the science and/or medical field
  • Experience working in the non-profit sector
  • Familiarity with the 3Rs and fundamentals of scientific research and/or drug development
  • Located in mainland USA near a major airport to facilitate travel to relevant conferences. 

Key Skills

  • Demonstrated ability to manage and organize projects from beginning to end in the context of diffuse, dynamic teams of volunteers.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with a good ability to communicate complex information in a clear, concise, and empathetic style for a variety of stakeholders.
  • Ability to adapt quickly and comfortably to working with a range of individuals from undergraduate interns to PhD Executives in diverse sectors of scientific research.
  • Familiarity and ease of using with common software programs (e.g., Microsoft Teams, Microsoft 365) and social media platforms (e.g., LinkedIn, Twitter). Ability to learn to use new technology applications quickly and subsequently teach others to use them.
  • Experience with remote work. We function in US time zones from Eastern to Pacific.
  • Taking initiative. You should feel comfortable thinking ahead, adapting, and problem solving.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to prioritize and manage a varied workload, working proactively to meet deadlines.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy across written and visual media.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work well as part of a team.

  • Flexible work week. We expect 32-40 hours of work per week. Must have some regular working hours and be able to attend regular weekly and monthly meetings between 10am EST to 5pm PST.
